SYPNOSIS

Mai Sasaki lived a quiet life in Tokyo-until illness claimed her after just 26 years. But on the brink of death, her grandmother bestows a final gift: the knowledge of magic and the power to start anew in another world. Healthy once again and filled with purpose, Mai opens a small cafe named "The Hideaway", tucked at the very end of a quiet street in the royal capital. Her goal? To use her second change to bring comfort, warmth, and delicious food to others. One of her most frequent (and mysterious) customers is Henry, the kingdom's top scribe. Dignified and composed, he seems to carry secrets far heavier than the stacks of parchment he handles at the castle. A story of second chances, gentle magic, and quiet love begins in a cozy café that feels like home. 

Why did I pick up this manga?

As always, it looks cute and I like that the FL isn't super young. Doesn't look like there will be much drama. It sounds similar to The Savior's Book Café in Another World which I liked. Both girls are living my dream. I can't even be jealous because my delulu ass is just thinking, "I'll join youuuu! I'll be the third book cafe girl!" Oh, a like a lot of manga out there, this story was originally a light novel.

Chapter 01 - 6 (scanlations)

• You know, I'm not as young as I was before. If someone told me they would let me live on in another world after I pass away, I think I would be pissed. One, because I don't like people deciding things for me. And two, I'm tired. Just let all of me die. I'm Catholic but the idea of just black, nothingness, sounds a lot more appealing than the idea of an afterlife.... I guess that's why I'm not getting a book cafe in another world. sad sad. 

Relatable

• Ah okay. Mai (FL) doesn't reincarnate into a new world. It's more like she teleports into one since she gets found in the new world in the same clothes and body she dies in (our world). She can use elemental magic as well as transmutation. Another story has me feeling like that part is unholy and taboo. 
• Having no moon is weird. I like the moon. Also, a bit scary that it goes pitch black at night.

So very unimpressive

• Homie (Henry Howler- ML) makes an appearance as a regular in chapter 1 and he's already in denial about being in love with Mai. 
• ooo apparently his birth mother is named Aiko. Another transplant? Ah, he's 25 y/o like Mai
• He's like some chief secretary 
• He eats at the cafe at 2PM, during off hours. Smart guy. I'm like him. 
• Reader's thought: These  transplants always be making Japanese food them being a hit in these old European settings. Something tells me Filipino food wouldn't be that much of a hit
• Reader's 2nd thought: Oh shiet. Should I be recapping the story or just continue to make comments as I go? Probably just make comes. Just enough being said to jog my memory if I need to in the future and enough to tease one to try out the story themselves
• Chief Mage, Jozelle Riesley, is missing and he took along a super expensive magical tool that could use teleportation magic. Only one in development
• It's kinda frightening how this government is like, "we can't afford to look for him. case closed"
• Is Henry a magician-ist (this hater). Boo budget cuts! What a loser. 
• hahaha Homie's running reminds Mai of a cat. So beautiful, graceful, elegant, and efficient. 
• Mai feels alone but doesn't feel like she can have a safe relationship with anyone while keeping her secrets. 

• 

  She lies about going to the tavern everyday (says a few times a week), and he lies about eating at her cafe everyday too. Though his was cuter. He just knocked off a day. six times is a lot
